Pissed Jeans: Moving On

Scheduled for release on March 1st, 2024, Pissed Jeans is gearing up to unveil their highly anticipated sixth album, Half Divorced, through Sub Pop. The band has revealed an early taste of the album in the form of the video for the punchy lead single, Moving On. The clip was directed by their frequent collaborator Joe Stakun.

Following the success of their 2017 album, Why Love Now, the new album comprises twelve tracks which dissect the delicate equilibrium between youthful hopefulness and the harsh realities of adulthood. The album's production and mixing were done by Pissed Jeans and Don Godwin, with Mike Petillo engineering at Tonal Park in Takoma Park, Maryland. The mastering was handled by Arthur Rizk.

Vocalist, Matt Korvette comments: “Half Divorced has an aggression within it, in terms of saying, I don’t want this reality. There’s a power in being able to say, I realize you want me to pay attention to these things, but I’m telling you that they don’t matter. I’m already looking elsewhere.

We realized we’d never really fucked with pop punk, and we thought, this is something that isn’t going to be immediately recognizable as cool. So let’s challenge ourselves to make it feel cool to us.

The term 'divorce' aligns with cases of embarrassment and disgrace which are prominently showcased throughout the album. Korvette explains: “If you say something enough or if you just allow it to exist publicly, then it loses its evil monster-in-the-closet thing.
