Bucharest dark alternative project Faunlet inhabit a suffocating emotional space on The Cement Cocoon. The track is steeped in darkness, with its grunge foundation functioning as something deeper than a stylistic reference. Weight, abrasion and melodic unease become essential to the world the band are constructing.
Its meaning and sound profile remain difficult to isolate, still, the ambiguity only strengthens its impact. The Cement Cocoon communicates through atmosphere, allowing shadowed guitars and an enclosed sense of pressure to suggest far more than a direct explanation could provide, while mmaculate production gives every element clarity. The title itself evokes shelter turned prison; something protective hardened into confinement.
Formed by Peter in 2011, Faunlet have continually moved between shoegaze, post punk and doomy gothic grunge. Those impulses converge into a new track that feels elusive, considered and entirely consumed by its own darkness.
