Blone Noble ventures beneath familiar darkwave territory with Subterranean World, a moody and artfully constructed piece that resists easy classification. Although the track retains the genre’s nocturnal atmosphere, its strange internal logic pushes outward toward art rock and something altogether more elusive.
The song emerged from Noble’s first studio session with producer Dakota Blue, with whom he has been quietly developing a new musical language in Pasadena.
Blone Noble reveals: “Dakota Blue and I been working in the shadows for some time now, developing a new musical language in his Pasadena studio; a neo-futuristic art rock record built on primal rhythms, eastern synths, fretless wanderings and LA noir poetry. We wrote and recorded 'Subterranean World' in our first session together.”
Subterranean World carries the sensation of catching a blurred signal from an unfamiliar city, and its pull works on several levels at once.
A striking video directed and edited by Redamo Rosa extends that atmosphere into cinema. Its cinephilic visual language does more than accompany the music, drawing the song’s mystery, tension and shadowy elegance into a world of its own.
Following Noble’s 2025 debut album, Life’s New Adventure, as well as the EP Dominator, Subterranean World points toward the upcoming ICONOCLAST. If the track represents the beginning of Blone Noble and Dakota Blue's shared vocabulary, the world taking shape around the album promises to be unconventional and difficult to name.
