After returning from a six-year absence with news of a new album, Sweden's Moloken are keeping the momentum going with another preview of what's to come. The UmeƄ quartet has shared Fault Line, the latest single from their forthcoming self-titled fifth full-length, arriving September 25th, 2026 via Discouraged Records.
Fault Line expands on the album's bleak and introspective direction with a dynamic mix of atmosphere and crushing intensity. Melodic clean vocals gradually build against towering layers of instrumentation before the track breaks into the band's trademark growls, highlighting the tension between restraint and sheer weight.
Guitarist Patrik Ylmefors comments on the track: "Fault Line emerged from the ruins of a friendship that slowly unraveled, transforming shared histories into distant memories. It captures the moment when the fault line finally breaks open beneath your feet — when the certainty of loss becomes impossible to ignore. Balancing sorrow with hard-won clarity, the song reflects on endings, the faint possibility of new beginnings, and the realization that some absences remain with us long after we have learned to live around them."
It's another glimpse at a record that finds Moloken embracing subtle evolution while staying true to the dark, emotionally heavy sound they've cultivated for nearly two decades.
