Tokyo-based composer and producer Bajune Tobeta has announced Anechoic, a new five-track release arriving on August 14th, 2026 through CROIX Co., Ltd. / electric sheep.
Blending contemporary classical composition with lo-fi electronics and piano, Anechoic focuses on the delicate tension between sound and silence. Tobeta, who studied under Ryuichi Sakamoto and has spent three decades exploring the relationship between sound and human consciousness, channels that experience into a restrained and deeply atmospheric work.
At the heart of the release is After the Silence, Tobeta's first recorded collaboration with Austrian electronic artist Christian Fennesz. Connected through their respective work with Sakamoto, the two artists bring together their distinct approaches in a piece that bridges Tokyo and Vienna.
Tobeta comments: "Christian and I both studied and worked with Ryuichi Sakamoto, but we had never recorded together until this track. We worked between Tokyo and Vienna, sending sounds back and forth. The title refers to what comes after the silence that Sakamoto left behind."
