The first single from DETECTS’ upcoming album The Future At First pushes the band into more synth-driven territory. Racing forward on a restless bassline and ominous keys, the track builds toward a bleak, surrendering chorus where nervous energy gives way to resignation.
It marks a slight departure from the band’s earlier material, but the new direction fits them remarkably well, and makes the impending The Future At First all the more intriguing.
Operating firmly within the underground, DETECTS continue to evolve without losing the tension at the heart of their sound. Each release has found them exploring new textures and sharpening their identity, and I Hope Nothing Happens feels like another natural step forward.
