Boy Harsher have released Hard Beat, the second preview of their newly announced album Get Mean, arriving September 18th, 2026 through Atlantic Records. The record follows Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller through the end of their romantic relationship, personal loss and the uncertain continuation of the band itself.
Built around a throbbing bassline and an unyielding mechanical rhythm, Hard Beat returns to the stark, physical darkwave that made Boy Harsher such a commanding presence. Matthews’ voice moves between murmur and confession, creating an atmosphere where desire feels inseparable from danger. The track is cold and controlled on the surface, yet charged with an anxious intensity underneath.
Directed by Boy Harsher and filmed by Owen Smith-Clark, the accompanying video extends that unease into a nocturnal world of surveillance, restraint and shifting power. Its images alternate between a figure confined by a metal leg brace and a group racing through the darkness in a vintage Cadillac, observed through CRT monitors and handheld cameras.
Hard Beat follows the recent single Jeans. Get Mean will be Boy Harsher’s first full length release since the 2022 film and soundtrack The Runner.
