Chelsea Wolfe: Cold

Chelsea Wolfe continues to present her ninth studio album, The Dark, with the release of its opening track, Cold. The record arrives digitally on August 21st, 2026 through Loma Vista Recordings, with physical editions following on September 18th.

Built around skeletal instrumentation and Wolfe’s commanding voice, Cold unfolds as a solemn gothic folk ballad before swelling into an immense, emotionally charged chorus. Its deliberate restraint makes every shift feel intensive, allowing a sense of grief, longing, and devastation to rise through the empty spaces.

The accompanying video extends the song’s ritualistic atmosphere through a séance that draws Wolfe and her companions toward something lurking beyond the visible world.

For The Dark, Wolfe worked with new co-writer Jennifer Decilveo and longtime collaborator Ben Chisholm, deliberately stripping back the dense sonic layers associated with parts of her previous work. The ten-track album also features contributions from Robin Finck, Troy Van Leeuwen, Matt Chamberlain, Stella Mozgawa, and Justin Meldal-Johnsen.

Inspired by the idea of entering the forest at its darkest point and becoming the very thing one fears, the record promises a trip through notions of transformation and hard-won courage.
