With their fresh offering, Summoning Aversion, GREH reveal a first look at their forthcoming album The Tyranny of Expectations, due in early 2027. The track reflects a shift in direction, moving away from doom metal in favor of black metal textures and atmospheric drones.
The German band leans into a more extreme framework this time around, with a clear sense of control, shaping a sound that feels focused and assured.
As they explain, the song centers on the release of long-suppressed emotions and their psychological toll: "The song is about the unleashing of malicious, repressed emotions and their psychosomatic effects. Bottled-up anger, disappointment, and accumulated mistrust result in a deep, supposedly protective aversion to others and the world, which ultimately turns against one’s own body and mind until one can only despise oneself."
