Chrysalide de l’air is the second single from Aufhebung’s latest album Loud Attempts For The Relieving Of Death, continuing to reveal the emotional scope of the French shoegaze project’s new work. The song is accompanied by a carefully crafted DIY video that mirrors the reflective atmosphere of the music itself.
The album marks the first half of a two-record project built around themes of rebuilding and resilience. Across this diptych, Aufhebung explore the process of reimagining life after confronting loss and other deeply traumatic experiences. The second part is expected soon, completing a body of work shaped by reflection and gradual renewal.
Chrysalide de l’air carries those ideas through sound as much as through feeling. Layers of wall-of-sound guitars form a dense yet inviting backdrop, drawing from the immersive textures long associated with shoegaze. Within that atmosphere, the emotional current of the track remains steady and present, giving the song a sense of quiet persistence from beginning to end.
The album itself was mixed by Jeff Zeigler (War on drugs, Kurt Vile, Knifeplay) in Philadelphia, US, and mastered by Fabian Tormin (The Kills, Unknown Mortal Orchestra) in Hamburg, DE.
