Endearments: Real Deal

Endearments step into full focus with the announcement of their debut full length, An Always Open Door, unveiling its first single and video, Real Deal. Guitar-forward and drenched in dreampop melancholy, the track pairs engaging riffs with a charged chorus, hitting hard without ever losing its sense of vulnerability.

Comprised of Kevin Marksson (vocals, bass), Anjali Nair (guitar), and Will Haywood Smith (drums), the trio have quickly created a sound founded in emotional honesty and physical volume. Fresh off the announcement of their signing to Trash Casual, Endearments reveal a piece that celebrates the sentimental core of the project, as well as their ability to play straight through the pain.

The accompanying music video, directed by Paul Desilva, mirrors the emotional fallout of the track's theme, following a drunken hookup and the uncomfortable, self-aware reckoning that follows. Intimate and unguarded, the clip reinforces the song’s concept of vulnerability and regret.

Frontman Kevin Marksson explains: “‘Real Deal’ is a song about feeling like you're just a supporting player in someone else's romantic idealization. I hint at Apollo and Daphne in the lyrics and the idea that someone can be so focused on what love 'should' feel like that they forget there is a real person on the other end. The music video plays with that concept in a fun way by having our heroine wake up in a strange apartment after what seemed like a perfect evening, but maybe wasn't as perfect as she thought.

Set for release on March 6th, 2026, An Always Open Door deepens Endearments’ collaboration with producer Abe Seiferth (Nation of Language, Car Seat Headrest), further refining a sound that balances immediacy with careful construction.
