MEMORIALS, the collaboration between Electrelane frontwoman Verity Susman and Wire guitarist Matthew Simms, emerge with the announcement of their new album All Clouds Bring Not Rain, due out March 27th, 2026 via Fire Records. Coinciding with the reveal, the duo share the album’s lead single and video, Cut Glass Hammer, a piece that crystallizes their shared instinct for experimentation, melody, and unconventionality.
Recorded largely in a barn studio hidden deep within the woods of southwestern France, the album carries the unmistakable imprint of isolation and immersion. Susman and Simms shut out the outside world and allowed the environment to shape the work, resulting in a record that feels liberated and self-contained.
All Clouds Bring Not Rain pulls from a remarkably wide spectrum of influence, from folk, dub, post punk, experimental tape music, to soul, garage rock, spiritual jazz, and Canterbury prog.
The duo explain: “We are increasingly drawn to the way records used to be made, both the sound of the equipment used and the choices forced by that equipment; there wasn’t the option to tinker for ages, it was about capturing a moment in time and committing to that. It’s far more satisfying to record sounds that exist in a real space and so become unique to us: they aren’t the same as the samples readily available everywhere...we are actively turning away from the easy option at almost every opportunity!”
Cut Glass Hammer exemplifies the band's philosophy. Built as an experiment in restraint, anchored to a single chord, the track unfolds through two constantly shifting modular synth lines. Its lyrics were inspired by the band’s visit to Yoko Ono’s Music of the Mind retrospective at London’s Tate Modern, channeling reflection and conceptual openness into a piece that feels both meditative and quietly abrasive.
