The Long Silence is a rather sorrowful song with a delicate fusion of shadowy post punk and psychedelic shoegaze, all quite reminiscent of the usual style which DETECTS bring with every new offering.
The entire band's delivery on The Long Silence is essentially icy and detached, which adds to the distinct airiness created by the gloomy, atmospheric instrumental parts and the isolated vocals. The song has a surreal as well as alluring aura which is dark and shimmering.
