Initially founded by Timothy Garrett and Liam Formosa in 2013, Krishna is an instrumental heavy music duo from Malta, currently consisting of Garrett on guitar and Alan Darmanin on drums. Krishna's music draws on a variety of styles, including post metal, post rock, drone, ambient, stoner rock, and doom metal.
Towards the end of 2022, the band's new single, Despondent, was written. The song's major riff was originally conceived by Timothy, who later refined it through improvisation with drummer Alan.
The song focuses on concepts of intense sadness and despair, expressing the specific weakness which comes from anhedonia; the loss of ability to feel pleasure. It is an epic piece which goes over the 21-minute mark, and traverses a wide range of emotions while constructing an incredible journey.
