Heretoir: Anima

German post black metal group, Heretoir, was formed by Eklatanz in 2006. The band's name, which consists of the prefix 'here-' from the word 'heretic' in English and the suffix '-toir' in French, is a made-up term for 'going an own way.'

Heretoir tackle the bleakness of daily existence fundamentally, as well as its dreadful realism, dejection and introspection. Their music is intended to serve as a theme for exploring one's darkest desires, phobias and innate soul.

Heretoir will release the new mini album, Wastelands, in May 2023, six years after their highly regarded album, The Circle, and it will feature three new songs. The explosive new single and video, Anima, examines the desire to break free from the rigid restraints society places all individuals.

The band comment on the new song's concept: "Our true inner potential is kept surpressed by 24-7 pressure to perform and numbing consumerism. Our society is so messed up that it is hard to break free, to stay focused on who you really are, who you want to be and the change that you want to make in all of this. Anima can be understood as a scream to 'free your mind, embrace your full potential and live your life to the fullest.'"
