Composed of Erica Ashleson (drums, vocals) and Guillaume Siracusa (guitar, vocals), Special Friend is an American/French dreampop duo based in Paris, with an eponymous debut EP released in 2019, and a full length coming in March 2021.
Ennemi Commun which translates to 'Common Enemy', the exact opposite of the band's moniker, was recorded with Vincent Hivert (En Attendant Ana) on a Tascam 8-track machine. The album's title track is a very slick indication of the band's soft dreampop haziness mingled with some additional fuzz. A distinguishable forward step for Special Friend, the new track comes paired to a video montage of the duo's visit in New York a year ago together with other footage from Madison to Bristol, all filmed directed by the band's own, Erica Ashleson.
The entirety of Ennemi Commun comes out on March 26th, 2021 through via Howlin Banana and Hidden Bay Records.
