fraudcast, the newest release by LA-based darkwave act, Deaf Dance, has been one of the most cutting through EPs of early 2021, a recommended listen for the discontented, which in a six-song density gets to cover a wide variety of post punk and synthpop modes.
The compellingly titled The Garbage Humans seems straight out destined for the gothic dancefloor, with its lyrical part coming across quite bitter and acerbic as it touches on a "theme of 'rampant modern world interpersonal decay'," while the music's harmonious sting has its origin in darkwave exemplars like Bauhaus and Virgin Prunes, the nearness of early Depeche Mode, and dark synthpop contemporaries like Cold Cave.
