Second is the lead single from Intervals, the eighth studio full length by Near The Parenthesis, the San Francisco-based project of minimal electronica musician, Tim Arndt. The album arrives in its entirety on October 16th, 2020 through n5MD.
Very much melodious and piano-based like the vast majority of Arndt's body of work, Second introduces an album with an organic and stripped down approach which immediately feels notably amended from some of the more animated previous Near The Parenthesis releases. The initial writing process for Intervals began at the family piano which made the whole creative procedure rather intimate, something that is evidently reflected on the final result. Second holds equal distances from the modern and the neo-classical, and it presents Near The Parenthesis in a very graceful and eloquent mode, exploring the wistful side of the project's sound, while swarming with reticent optimism.
