Mutes: Guarded Young

Birmingham, UK act, Mutes, have just come through with the release of their sophomore LP, Pareidolia, out through FOMA, and lead single, Guarded Young, emerges like a fine, five-minute blend of melodious psychedelic rock, post punk mentality and loud shoegaze grit.

Full of existentialist qualities in its lyrical content, and carrying a fair amount of dark pensiveness and intimacy as a whole, the new album finds the upcoming band at the top of their strengths, accessibly rough, moderately hopeful, and expressive of their obvious finesse. It's also worthy of mention that Pareidolia was entirely recorded and mixed by the band, all remarkably well.

Since their inception Mutes have shared stages with the likes of The Cribs, No Age, Charly Bliss, Frigs and more, and it all looks like the band is on a much consistent rise.
