Vixenta is an ambient/post black metal project from Brisbane, Australia, formed in 2010. Vixenta's most recent single, DAWN STAR, is a collaboration with the experimental Texas-based act City of Dawn. It was written and recorded over the course of 2022, with the two sides taking ideas from two incredible, timeless sources and transforming them into something wholly new and original.
The song's opening section was handled by Damien of City of Dawn who took cues from Edward Hopper's painting, Nighthawks. The outcome is the song's opening half characterized by noir undertones and moody soundscapes.
The work of H.P. Lovecraft served as the source of inspiration for the second half of the piece, of which Vixenta is in charge. The song naturally moves from the first part's atmospheric tones into a black/doom metal conclusion which packs a notably intense punch.
Despite being a pretty diverse by design, the track maintains cohesion and is a pretty adventurous and forceful listen.
