Did You Die: Hallie

Esteemed Vancouver shoegazers, Did You Die, have just released their new single, Hallie, as part of Bleeding Light, a compilation which serves as the soundtrack to the novel of the same name by Rob Benvie (Thrush Hermit, The Dears). The release includes more of Canadian alternative rock's cream of the crop, such as Tuns (Sloan,The Superfriendz, The Inbreds), Brendan Canning (Broken Social Scene), Sook-Yin Lee, Joel Plaskett, Buck 65, Peter Elkas (formally of Local Rabbits) and others.

Despite the challenges through which Did You Die went recently, with the band's members Richie Felix Alexander and Madison Penland going homeless during the making of their anticipated sophomore album, Thirteen Moons, it is fairly obvious that the group's creativity is steadily strengthened and evolved, capable of taking advantage of the shoegaze, dreampop and power pop tropes without coming off as commonplace.

Hallie, written, recorded and produced by Alexander, is another high achiever for Did You Die, and a win on every level. Thirteen Moons is now distinct in the horizon, scheduled for release on Blew//Rose in the near future, as the band enduringly waited for things to open up.

Did You Die are Samantha Hooey (vocals, guitar), Madison Penland (synths, vocals), Jula Sky (bass), Tom Rapanakis (live drums), Luke Bodi (studio drummer) and Richie Felix Alexander (vocals, guitar).
