Following her 2013 debut as Saltland, the critically acclaimed I Thought It Was Us But It Was All Of Us, Rebecca Foon of Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra and Set Fire To Flames has just released her sophomore solo effort, once again on the eminent Constellation Records.
A Common Truth features the contributions of Warren Ellis, Besnard Lakes' Jace Lasek and Constellation co-founder Ian Ilavsky, and it contains a fine balance of four instrumentals and five vocal tracks led by Foon's fragile and enchanting voice.
The album is themed around the concept of climate change and it works like a fine attempt to artistically interpret its emotional, social and political impact while it balances on the line between desperation and hope. A deep and moving listen, A Common Truth requires attention and observation and like everything else in Rebecca Foon's body of work so far, it doesn't disappoint.
