Chalice Sect are relentless on Fire In The Sound, delivering a full on, unforgiving introduction to their new EP, Finis Initii. The Los Angeles darkwave and post punk project drives the track forward with the forceful energy that has become increasingly characteristic of its sound, while industrial nuances sharpen its harder edges.
Melody remains present within the assault, particularly through horror-tinged synths that lend the song an eerie cinematic quality. The vocals find a compelling middle ground between aggression and drama without slipping into excess, resulting in refined darkwave built firmly for the present.
