Los Angeles outfit Skiptrace reveal Aether, the second single from their forthcoming self-titled debut album. Blending shoegaze and dreampop with the sharper force of nu-metal and nineties grunge, the band create music capable of shifting between weightlessness and impact.
The new single flips between two very different moods. A bright, airy verse suddenly gives way to a loud, forceful chorus, making each shift feel immediate and almost physical. In the final stretch, those contrasting energies settle into the same space, guided by rhythmic changes shaped by the drummer’s knack for polyrhythmic patterns.
The result carries a distinctly cool color and temperature, being hazy and reflective one moment, abrasive and hard-hitting the next. Aether captures the dynamic character of Skiptrace’s sound, assembling familiar fragments of alternative rock into something thoughtful and notable.
Mixed and mastered by Corey Coffman, the band’s debut album arrives October 16th, 2026.
