Sungaze have unveiled the video for Another Life, the opening track from their recently released fourth album, I’m No Longer Afraid of Heights.
Shot across two afternoons in different seasons, the video captures the band's familiar visual language, balancing quiet natural landscapes with industrial surroundings. At its center is the band's own lead vocalist Ivory Snow, whose character wrestles with a growing sense of emotional exhaustion. As the narrative unfolds, everyday routines begin to repeat in a Groundhog Day-like cycle, blurring the line between acceptance and the hope that life could unfold differently.
Snow explains: “This is one of those projects I think I dreamed before I ever knew it would come to be. Back in 2023, Ian [Hilvert, lead guitar, songwriter], Angela [Wren, bassist] and I went to visit a relative and check out the new property she had just bought. These large pylons sit on the edge of it and I just remember being so captivated by them. I took a photo and it lived unbothered in my camera roll until September of 2025, when Ian first showed me the instrumental that would become “Another Life”. That first listen sparked so many ideas and images, chief among them being this particular setting.”
Regarding the role of the seasons, Snow continues: “I’ve wanted to do a video where we film the same scene during starkly different seasons, for years now. I’ve probably thrown out the suggestion at least once for nearly every album we’ve released, but it just never worked out with the timing. When Ian came to me with this recording in September, I knew this would be the one. We filmed part 1 (apartment scenes, winter field scenes) in February, on a cool 19 degree day. Ange got chilblains. Ben forgot his coat. I forgot my mic stand. And the next day, we realized Ian forgot his guitar, at the filming location, about an hour from where we live in the city.
Part 2 was filmed in May, the weekend after our album was released. Things went much more smoothly the second time around.”
