Liverpool duo So, Reverie introduce their new material with All You See In Dreams, an EP that draws freely from dreampop, post punk and shoegaze without allowing any one influence to dictate its course. Formed by guitarist and vocalist Andy Power alongside guitarist and drummer Cain Garcia, the project grew out of a close creative friendship sustained through the uncertainties of their late teens and early twenties. That shared history comes through in music that already feels remarkably focused.
Close My Eyes begins the record on an upbeat yet wistful note. Its buoyant momentum, memorable guitar lines and crisp production offer an inviting entrance into the duo’s sound, while Runaway shifts toward an accessible strain of post punk without abandoning the melodic qualities established by the opener.
The textures deepen on Days Go By, where layered guitars and pop-minded songwriting lend the track the immediacy of a natural single. Sea Change then emerges as the EP’s centerpiece, carrying a pronounced nineties alternative-rock character and giving the record a broader and more forceful presence.
Separate Minds looks toward shoegaze’s formative voices, wrapping eighties post punk tension in psychedelic haze and dense nineties guitar textures. By contrast, Lucid Dreams brings the release to a relatively colder conclusion, moving into the stark, shadowy territory associated with a more contemporary post punk sound.
Although All You See In Dreams moves across several closely connected styles, its transitions don't feel forced. Every song occupies its own space of the duo’s sound, but the concise three-to-four-minute arrangements ensure that the EP moves effortlessly as a complete work. Fresh band, So, Reverie display an impressive understanding of atmosphere and melody in this release.
