French post punk outfit Curtain return with Look At The Mirror, the haunting opening cut from their fresh album Spiral, out via Manic Depression Records. Recorded and mixed by Franck Amendola, the track immediately establishes the record’s sentimentality with a sound that feels both intimate and devastating.
Written around the trauma of losing a friend to suicide, Look At The Mirror carries a quiet ache beneath its melodic exterior. Rather than drowning itself in despair, Curtain channel grief into something strangely warm and inviting, with shimmering guitars, melancholic basslines, and shadowy atmospherics colliding in a way that recalls classic post punk, deathrock and darkwave while maintaining a distinctly personal identity.
