Naarm alt-rock trio Nausicaa return with The Darkest, a slow-burning, immersive glimpse into their forthcoming debut album Dreams Like These. The single settles into a denser emotional register, drawing out a sound that feels heavier in an atmospheric manner, appearing layered, patient, and charmingly consuming.
There are guitars blurring at the edges, feedback drifting in and out, while the rhythm section holds an almost meditative pulse.
Recorded and produced entirely in-house, The Darkest reflects the band band learning how to trust their own space. The result is intimate and expansive, where experimentation doesn’t disrupt the core of the song, and a sense of restraint remains at play.
As a preview of Dreams Like These, the track suggests a record that’s less concerned with arrival and more with movement, through texture, mood, as well as through the quiet shifts that happen beneath the surface.
To mark the release, Nausicaa will launch the album with a headline show at Shotkickers in Thornbury on May 1st, 2026.
