Common Threat: State of Decay

Common Threat arrive with a foundation that feels solid from the outset. Drawn from different corners of Cleveland’s music community, the five members, Blade Birch, Dominic Vercillo, Dillon Melancon, Jonah Fields, and Alex Sherry, come together with a shared focus that centers on energy, connection, and intent.

Their new offering, the State of Decay EP, leans into the lineage of classic hardcore, with the structures being tight, the pacing direct, and the delivery carrying the kind of urgency that comes from experience. At the same time, there’s a subtle push outward, an enthusiasm to let their sound stretch just enough to feel current without losing its grounding.

The title track moves with a familiar momentum, the kind that feels predominant and physical, however, the rawness appears guided, giving the track a sense of purpose that holds from start to finish. The band’s connection to their scene feels genuine, and that comes through in the music itself.
