Lana Leone are a shoegaze band out of Minneapolis, MN, and their new single Isabell marks a clear turning point, being darker, denser, and more emotionally weighted than the EPs that came before. It’s a track that feels deliberate in its pacing and atmosphere, signaling a band settling into its own gravity.
Built on swelling guitars and a low-end backbone of thundering bass and drums, Isabell alternates between slow-burning restraint and excessive reverb and distortion. Vocalist and guitarist Alana Christen's voice glimmers, frail and resolute all at once, providing a lot of feeling to the overall ethereality.
There's a sense of tension and longing that runs through the song which turns out to be a solid release, placing Lana Leone at the start of something significant, and it's definitely worth checking out.
