Royal Ratbags: Supermarket Woman

Hailing from the Northern Rivers, all-female band Royal Ratbags tap directly into a refreshingly unruly strain of punk and post punk, where attitude, and instinct deliver the goods.

Supermarket Woman celebrates the unglamorous made glorious, finding power, confidence, and outright fabulousness under the harsh fluorescent lights of a local supermarket. It’s punk in the sense of everyday rebellion wrapped in sneers and energy.

The accompanying music video doubles down on the same ethos, transforming the grocery aisle into a site of defiance, and self-expression.

Supermarket Women is about being fabulous in the supermarket! Let’s be honest — we all love getting dressed up to go shopping and having a cheeky people-watch,” says frontwoman Alexandra. “Supermarkets are fun, and living in an all-girl house, it’s easily one of our funniest activities together. We grab our biggest thrifted ball gowns and head straight to the supermarket followed, of course, by the pub.”

As debuts go, this is loud, playful, and unapologetic.
