NOTHING: Cannibal World

Two sickly figures roam the streets of Philadelphia; a dystopia of decay, ruin, and decomposition, while the distorted sounds of Cannibal World, the surprising new offering from Nothing, make everything feel even more warped and unforgiving.

A Short History of Decay follows Nothing’s 2020 D//E Album of the Year, The Great Dismal. With the strongest array in Nothing’s ever-shifting lineup, guitarist Doyle Martin (Cloakroom), bassist Bobb Bruno (Best Coast), drummer Zachary Jones (MSC, Manslaughter 777), and third guitarist Cam Smith (Ladder To God, also of Cloakroom), singer-songwriter Domenic Palermo knew he had the resources to create the band’s most ambitious record thus far.

Run For Cover has made a powerful addition in Nothing, who are set to release their first full length for the label. The album arrives February 27th, 2026.

The song descends into an emotional freefall in which sorrow and acceptance begin to converge. It feels like existential burnout drenched in otherworldly distortion.

The video, directed by Ben Ditto, makes brilliant use of AI’s current capabilities.
