nazire, the underground princess of Turkey’s alternative scene, unveils her third English-language single from her upcoming album glitchfolk. The 23-year-old lo-fi artist has announced the release of her anticipated full length, and unveiled the second preview from it.
junebug, the new track demonstrates a major evolution in nazire's sound. It begins with ethereal female vocals built over a flat, digital backdrop before developing into an emotive and powerful live shoegaze sound. The song begins with reverb-soaked vocals, gentler guitars, and trip-hop electronic drums before expanding into a full-fledged shoegaze storm with layers of distorted sounds, driving rhythms, and an invigorating intensity that reflects nazire's growing artistic confidence.
“This song represents a leap into a more mature and experimental sound for me,” says nazire. “I’m finally making the music I always wished I could: distorted and dreamlike.”
The song ends with a glitch-driven guitar solo, an appropriate sonic analogy for the album's title. In terms of lyrics, it focuses on surrender, the dangerous yet exhilarating moment when one gives in to a love that feels uncertain and obvious.
nazire's upcoming album, glitchfolk, promises to challenge genre boundaries by combining heavy electronic elements with live-recorded instrumentation, personal narratives, and dreamy vocals. The full length, which was recorded at Istanbul Technical University's prestigious MIAM studio, is shaping up to be the artist's boldest and most engaging work yet, an amalgamation of digital texture and strong emotional content.
