Ukrainian post metal outfit Vøvk continue to captivate with each new glimpse of their upcoming album, Litera, set for release in autumn 2025. Following the commanding presence of earlier singles Iskra and Promin, their latest track, Mur, further sets the stage for an album poised to leave a lasting impact.
Mur is a reflective grunge/prog rock composition which delves into adaptation, fear, and fragile hope. “When the world shrinks to a room, you build a wall to survive,” the band explains, offering a poetic reflection on psychological confinement and the complexities of introversion.
Once again, Vøvk’s musicianship stands out, effortlessly navigating between contemporary progressive metal, post metal, and the slow-burning intensity of alternative rock.
The band examines themes of protection, hope, and vigilance in a realm that is at once fostering and threatening. The tension between comforting imagery and more menacing undertones creates a unique atmosphere and gives way to a nearly surreal and thought-provoking outcome.
