Storm Boy have unveiled In the Shadows of Fort Reno, a powerful new release which shows the band in top form and ready for action. It’s been a while since Storm Boy shared fresh music, but they’ve been hard at work on material that may find its way onto a forthcoming album, slated for early 2026.
In the Shadows of Fort Reno takes its name from songwriter Chas Roberts’ memories of watching Fugazi perform summers at Fort Reno Park while growing up in the Washington, DC area.
“Sometimes we hide our influences as much as we can, hoping to escape it,” he says, “And sometimes we just have to hop on the back of those influences and try to build something taller.”
The track is a fist-raiser, tackling class struggle and the fight for security in Trump’s America. Musically, it sees the band leaning into a punkier twist on the Pixies, all radical, hard-hitting, and brimming with the band’s signature spunk.
The accompanying video was filmed at Wild Child in Olympia, Washington, by renowned punk photographer I_AM_REP and edited by Roberts himself.
