ratstallion deliver a strain of grunge-gaze straight out of Denver, the Mile High City, channeling a sound that’s weightier and more brooding than most currently in the scene. So far, the band has kept things deliberately mystifying, letting the music carry the message as it should.
Eye comes from their two-track release Pit/Eye, which followed closely on the heels of the equally recent Dust/Spire. Across both, ratstallion maintain a clear through-line in both sound and aesthetic, with a hazy, otherworldly melancholy serving as their signature.
Of Eye, they explain: "I paid for therapy but all i got was this song. It's about struggling to be in the moment and identify feelings as they come up versus through the lens of how you 'should' feel about them. Intellectualizing emotions type beat."
