Montreal-based post punk outfit, The City Gates, unveils their latest single and accompanying video, Lapidation, as a preview of their upcoming album scheduled for release by the end of 2024 on Icy Cold Records and Velouria Recordz.
The album's second single, Lapidation embodies the signature dark post punk sound for which The City Gates are known, pulsating with energy while maintaining a gritty and rather grim tone. While it showcases the band's recognizable guitar-driven style, the song is also infused with a dynamic and danceable quality.
Filmed in the attic of the band's Velouria Studio, the video for Lapidation was created by the band's drummer, Bitou, with the assistance of MADOC, TWEAX, and Dino Chauvette handling cameras and lighting, respectively.
The City Gates will embark on the Lapidation European Tour in April 2024 which will include a performance at Dark Spring Berlin festival alongside bands such as Je t’aime, Golden Apes, Ductape, Understheskin, and VV and the Void.
