BIG|BRAVE have unveiled their latest single, canon: in canon, featuring acclaimed guitarist Marisa Anderson. The immersive track is part of their upcoming album, A Chaos of Flowers, set to be released on April 19th, 2024 via Thrill Jockey.
Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Robin Wattie, the band delivers a poignant delivery, with subtle vocal effects, complemented by Anderson and guitarist Mathieu Ball's layers of distortion and slow arpeggios, all underlined by drummer Tasy Hudson's delicate cymbal work.
In the creation of A Chaos Of Flowers, Wattie drew inspiration from the poetry of fellow artists who shared similar experiences often marginalized by societal norms.
“I discovered that most poems from folk traditions or in the public domain seem to be by men – to which I could not quite relate. In my search, I rediscovered some of my favorite works and poets,” says Wattie. “It is a feeling of relatability and even astonishment really, with how these writers of different standings and eras and all being female-presenting, each expressing these seemingly similar intense moments of individual experiences, of intimacy and madness. We're alone, and yet, not.”
