Drab Majesty: Vanity (feat. Rachel Goswell)

Four years have passed since Drab Majesty's highly acclaimed full length and D//E Album of the Year 2019, Modern Mirror. The band is back with their first release of new music, not including their standalone cover of Blind Melon's No Rain. They have announced their new EP, An Object in Motion, set to be released on August 25th, 2023, through Dais Records.

Together with the announcement, they have also revealed their new song and video, Vanity, featuring Rachel Goswell from Slowdive. Both parties held a deep appreciation for one another's work, which ultimately led to their collaboration on the new track.

Drab Majesty's Deb Demure comments: "As a long time listener and devotee of Slowdive, a band that literally shaped my DNA as a listener and musician, it was truly humbling to have Rachel offer her iconic vocal stylings to this song. Her voice is a sonic treasure and unmistakable. I'm infinitely grateful to call her a friend and am still pinching myself wondering -  how did we get here?"

Rachel Goswell adds: "It’s no secret that I am a long time Drab Majesty fan so when Deb asked me some years ago now if I would be interested in collaborating it was an immediate yes. Honoured to give my voice to Vanity."

Drab Majesty's new material was written during a retreat to the secluded coastal town of Yachats in Oregon in 2021. Deb Demure found inspiration in the captivating neo-psychedelic ambiance, and became immersed in the exploration of a distinct 12-string Ovation acoustic/electric guitar, known for its unique bowl-shaped design.
