A Very Special Episode: Neon Stars

Neon Stars is the concluding single in a sequence leading up to the release of A Very Special Episode's second album, Freak Me Out, scheduled to arrive on June 23rd, 2023, through Hidden Home/EWEL Records. In the new song, the band fully embraces the shoegaze element of their sound, as well as their influence from bands like Slowdive, Ringo Deathstarr, and My Bloody Valentine.

AVSE vocalist and bassist Kasey Heisler explains: “ Neon Stars explores the feelings experienced when drifting off to sleep in front of the television, as depicted by Kristi Sun. The outside world’s sounds and lights bleed into the inner dream space and even after waking up you have the sense of bringing remnants of your REM fantasies into reality.

Neon Stars can be perceived as a sound embodiment of the band's profound thirst and desire to explore the motifs which have been driving their recent thematic direction. A Very Special Episode evolve, and continue to delve deep into the core of their influences, giving more prominence to their shoegaze ways, and complementing their garage rock and post punk base.

The music video for Neon Stars marks a reunion between the band and Jen Meller, the filmmaker who previously directed the recent Heaven's Gate clip.
