From Los Angeles, new act, Catbells, had a productive 2021 putting out a series of brief early releases which tend toward a direct, melancholic dreampop sound, oftentimes verging on indie folk, and on occasion close to quirkier indie pop ways.
The artist's latest release is the individual single and video, Same As You, which overplays its creative quirkiness on both the musical and the visual fronts. The song itself is an approachable, easygoing indie pop number founded on lovely melodiousness, refined lyricism and the artist's fine, soft vocals, while the video which comes with it is an amusing depiction of the eccentricity and the charming demeanor that make Catbells an interesting new enterprise in the world of lo-fi dreampop.
