Paragon Cause: Lost Cause

Canadian synthpop duo, Paragon Cause, follow their EP, Lies Between Us, from last year with their new album, What We Started, expected out April 17th, 2020 and introduced with first single and video, Lost Cause.

What We Started finds the band getting together again with The Raveonettes' Sune Rose Wagner with whom they composed and produced the set of songs that comprise the new album.

The new single is completely representative of the band's spontaneity and the impulsive direction that their creativity took during those sessions, as it was an initial rough idea of the group's own, Michelle Opthof, conceived on the piano while Wagner and her creative partner, Jay Bonaparte, weren't present in the studio. After their instigation the song was developed by Opthof into a fully fledged piece, and formed into a warmly emotive and intensive track themed on domestic violence and sexual assault

"It’s a song about the end of a relationship and coming to the conclusion that the other person is a lost cause," Opthof describes. "Sune loved the song right from the beginning, and once I started working on the lyrics and melody, it just came together super fast after that. I guess I was just in a mood."
