Slowdive: Golden Hair

The latest entry in the admirable Sonic Cathedral Singles Club is a real treat, as the great Slowdive revisit one of their earlier songs and rework it to a fantastic nine-minute rendition.

Golden Hair was originally composed by Syd Barrett, inspired by the James Joyce poem of the same name. Slowdive issued it for the first time on their 1991 EP, Holding Our Breath. The veteran shoegazers re-recorded it sometime in 2014, but it was mixed this year by the band's own, Neil Halstead.

On the seven-inch the lengthy track had to be split in two parts, yet, there's a fully unedited digital version that comes with the super limited vinyl run.
