Silverbacks: Sirens

Interweaving causticity and sophistication with an excitable post punk sound and ultra sharp production, Dublin's Silverbacks return with a biting new single, just released through Nice Swan ahead of the band's anticipated debut full length.

Like their previous three releases Sirens was again produced by Daniel Fox from fellow Dubliners, Girl Band, with whom Silverbacks also toured recently, in addition to being on the road with greats such as Ride and The Lemonheads.

The new song is constructed on razor-edged instrumentation which involves kinetic rhythms and impelling guitar work, while vocalist Daniel O'Kelly's almost apathetic calmness wittily juxtaposes the song's antipathy for modern society.

O'Kelly explains: "In Sirens, the narrator misses riots and important protests taking place in his city because he’s too preoccupied with writing the perfect soundtrack for what is happening. He’s equally distracted by his relationship issues, tennis, and his obsession with his favourite band."

Silverbacks are Daniel O’Kelly (guitar, vocals), Kilian O’Kelly (guitar, vocals), Peadar Kearney (guitar), Emma Hanlon (bass, vocals) and Gary Wickham (drums).
