DIIV have returned for good, and they seem hell-bent on challenging that notion that their debut, Oshin, is an album they will never overcome. As much as that album's superiority is evident, the upcoming Deceiver is shaping up to bad not so bad itself.
Third installment off Deceiver is the brilliant Blankenship, an instantly winsome piece, menacing, creeping and remarkably sharp, coinciding with a post-apocalyptic themed video shot in different locations around California, such as Trona Pinnacles and Sequoia National Park. The clip was directed by Sean Stout, starring Savannah Macias, and featuring the band performing in an intimate space.
