Secret Shame: Calm

Following the excellent first single, Dark, off their coming album, Dark Synthetics, Asheville dark punk band, Secret Shame, return with another splendid piece, showing more of their melodious side. Dark Synthetics releases September 6th, 2019 through the label owned by the great Texan band, Portrayal of Guilt.

Calm sounds blunt and disarming from its first moments, and deals with the the difficult subject matter of domestic abuse in a very direct and quite artful manner. Lena's standout vocals once more graciously channel Siouxsie, and comfortably meld with the sharp and well constructed instrumentals, making up something dense, effective and altogether exciting.

As their second offering emerges similarly entrancing to their previous one, Dark Synthetics is coming along as one powerfully built and apt debut, and one of the best representations the sound of deathrock has to offer today.
