Josephine Wiggs: The Weeping of the Rain

Pure and direct, the four minute moodiness of The Weeping of the Rain emerges as a compelling listen, the second deriving from We Fall, the upcoming album by the prolific indie rocker-turned-ambient composer, Josephine Wiggs.

Once again the artist makes clear her evident influences from some of the genre's pioneers, such as Brian Eno, Harold Budd and Ryuichi Sakamoto, as she approaches this meditative and atmospheric direction with reverence for her peers and zeal for the exploration of the newfound, untried aspect of her creativity.

As bassist in The Breeders, Wiggs has been on the right end of much appreciation and respect since the nineties, recognition which by all appearances she seems to deserve as an experimental composer as well. In all its straightforwardness, The Weeping of the Rain is a wonderful instrumental attached to a colorful clip of pretty flowers, also created by Wiggs.

We Fall comes out May 17th, 2019 on The Sounds of Sinners.
