Silent Forum: Robot

After faking the moon landing this past summer, Cardiff's Silent Forum once again put their intriguing mixture of post punk and new wave to good use, and present another entry from their anticipated upcoming debut LP.

Like the previous single, Robot is produced by Charlie Francis (R.E.M., Future of the Left, Ultravox), and it uncovers the Welsh band in great shape both as writers and performers. The song comes sounding sophisticated and playful at the same time, certainly reminiscent of the artful progressive pop sound of XTC, the nerve of Wire and the new wave idiosyncrasy of Squeeze and Talking Heads, while maintaining the entirety of the quartet's fervent originality.

Closer to dance punk than most of the band's previous work, Robot is accompanied by a similarly imaginative video, crawling with wit, character and jaunty weirdness.

Silent Forum are Richard Wiggins, Dario Ordi, Oli Richards, and Elliot Samphier. Robot releases December 7th, 2018 via Libertino Records.
