Winter & Triptides: Amiga

With a shared love for the Tropicalia movement and popular Brazilian music, Samira Winter and Glenn Brigman cross their paths and come up with a new record inspired by that exceptional style and written almost entirely in Portuguese.

Winter's roots in the Brazilian culture are very deep, as she grew up in Curitiba, Brazil, and was exposed to MPB at an early age. Songs like Ele Dorme and Raio De Sol, both of which appear on the album as new arrangements, are among her childhood memories, sung to her by her mother. On the other hand, Brigman was introduced to the style by his roommate while attending Indiana University.

Winter & Triptides explore those tropical ways while remaining true to their original and instinctive forms; Winter's dreampop airiness and the fuzzy, psychedelic rock sound that Triptides is known for. Amiga is a brief, breezy, perfect introduction to the upcoming full length, Estrela Mágica, scheduled for release September 28th, 2018.
