Luxury: Primrose Path

Previously heard through their double A-side single, Blue Wates/Two Swans and also very recently caught live opening for Protomartyr, Newcastle post-punksters, Luxury, return in quick succession with another exceptional single which sounds exactly how we like our post punk at the moment: raw, dark and gritty.

In just a little over two minutes, Primrose Path presents the band's fluent, uncomplicated and straightforward take on the genre that conveys vast darkness alongside unrestrained energy and strength. Once more, Luxury's sound reflects a lot from the spirit of the genre's heroes and some of their contemporary peers, while this time it effectually crosses over even blacker territories, with an even more assertive gothic tone like that of Gene Loves Jezebel, X Mal Deutschland or Virgin Prunes.

At first glance it all may sound like something that belongs in a completely different era, but in the end the timing for the coming of these resilient newcomers feels exactly right.
